Panama

John and Robins Home in Boquete Panama

Our trip to Panama began with some trepidation. After getting off course on the way to Dulles airport, we finally arrived at the Copa Airlines ticket counter at 3am. We were promptly told that our two paddle bags could not go on the plane as Copa Airlines had instituted an embargo on sports equipment until the middle of January. No amount of instance could get them on the plane, the manager finally solved the problem by sending our bags on a Continental flight that would arrive in Panama at 7pm. This was a little problematic as the bags would arrive after our departure for David at 4pm, but we acquiesced to this solution as there was no other option. So it was with some skepticism about ever being reunited with our eight paddles and new spray skirts that we boarded the plane to Panama City.

The flight to Panama City was smooth, one very loud crying baby kept the whole plane awake for most of the trip but otherwise it was nice and we arrived at 10am. We then took a cab to the domestic airport waited in some very uncomfortable chairs until our 4pm flight to David. John and Robin picked us up at the airport and we drove forty five minutes up the volcano to Boquete.

John and Robins house is in a nice quite corner and is very comfortable and cozy. We were reunited with our good friend Kara and spent the night catching up on our lives. It is looking like a very nice week here in Panama.
